BRIEF COMPANY PROFILE

Our client is a medium-sized global MedTech company headquartered in the Öresund region with several years of history developing, manufacturing and selling innovative products globally to health care professionals.

THE POSITION

With the objective and ambition to further strengthening the Project Execution (PE) platform, including introducing sturdy processes and structures and to enhance the units cross-organizational outreach and support – and the overall governance level of the group – the “Project Office Director” will be responsible for ensuring the development and existence of superior and necessary processes and competences within Project Execution.

 

Additionally, and with the direct leadership of a handful of Project Managers, the position will be overall responsible for ensuring effective management of the PE team, including people and professional competence development. Moreover, the role will be responsible for material and processes in relation to effective portfolio management and for exerting change management regarding governance and project execution behavior in PE.

 

Consequently, the position calls for an experienced and skilled manager and leader of projects, people or both – ideally including strong proficiency in driving PMO’s in a matrix organization and across functions. Additionally, superior communication, stakeholder management and service skills are of the essence, while people management experience is an advantage. Medical device/MedTech- and regulatory (design control) experience is a must, while the ability to navigate strategic partnerships – and large data sets – is preferred.


The Project Execution Team

PE is the name of the collective project office setup at our client which is responsible for the common project model broadly applied throughout the organization and encompassing e.g. Operations, Commercial and Product Development projects. Thus, PE represents a PMO-like setup responsible for maintaining effective product portfolio governance while acting an internal service function of professional Project Managers.

 

Project Managers drive and run projects on behalf of Project Owners, ensuring that project targets are met effectively and in a timely manner. Consequently, the PE has a wide outreach to the entire organization and insist on exerting a high level of customer service, support, discipline and effective time-, stakeholder- and project management.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Assuming ownership and leadership of the global PE function, including the development and implementation of necessary and relevant processes, structures and competences – contributing to effective and successful project management and execution throughout the entire organization.

  • Ensuring effective governance across the entire project portfolio.

  • Ensuring effective project portfolio management, alongside superior service and support to the organization through PE’s professional Project Managers.

  • Ensuring continuous improvement and development of PE to ensure a high level of effectiveness and execution power.

  • Ensuring process and facilitation responsibility and oversight regarding project economics and financials.

  • Exerting effective change management leadership regarding project execution and overall governance in PE.

  • Partaking in the interfacing with strategic partners ensuring effective coordination and practical follow-up.

Key success criteria:

  • Have created of a pull effect for the services of PE.

  • Have delivered successful leadership of the PE function and team, resulting in highly satisfactory ratings among team members and throughout the organization.

  • Have contributed significantly to the strengthening of the PE platform, including the introduction of sturdy processes and structures and a heightened governance level overall.

  • Have contributed significantly to the enhancement of PE’s cross-organizational outreach and support – and the overall governance level.

  • Have contributed significantly to a high-performing culture in PE, including strong performance from each team member.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Educational background:

Relevant education – ideally at B.Sc. level or higher.

Language:

English – fluent (verbally and written).

Ideal experience and competencies:

  • +5 years of experience from a similar role managing and leading projects and preferably project organizations in a PMO-like setting within a matrix organization.

  • Experience from the Medical Device/MedTech industry or like.

  • Strong regulatory understanding (design control).

  • Track record of creating superior service delivery structures.

  • People management experience is an advantage.
