STRATEGIC PROCUREMENT MANAGER, INDIRECT

BRIEF COMPANY PROFILE

Our client is a global medtech company that develops, manufactures and sells devices to hospitals and health care service providers all over the world. 

Our client is headquartered in Greater Copenhagen with main innovation centers in Denmark and Asia, supported by local development departments in key countries and at their factories in Asia and North America. Most of the company’s revenue is generated through own direct sales.

THE POSITION

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Procurement, the position will play a key role in the indirect sourcing processes of our client.

 

Procurement spend:

Current total indirect spend at our client: 250 MDKK (750 suppliers; 40 of which constitute 80% of total spend).

 

Largest indirect categories include: IT (consultants, hardware, software licenses etc.), R&D, Clinical, & Biosafety (CRO’s, KOL’s/health care staff), Telephone/mobile, and Transport.

POSITION PROFILE

Position title:

Strategic Procurement Manager, Indirect

Reporting line:

Vice President, Corporate Procurement

Location:

Greater Copenhagen, Denmark

Traveling:

10 days per year.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Developing, planning and executing on sourcing/category strategies across Indirect procurement categories.

  • Establishing clear plans and processes from which key internal stakeholders can easily navigate.

  • Develop procurement processes and

  • Managing project based RFx processes:

    • Creation of fact base.

    • Developing, distributing and evaluating quotations.

    • Leading supplier negotiations.

    • Establishing and maintaining agreements with suppliers in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.

  • Optimizing on corporate procurement leavers i.e. identify synergies across our client's supplier portfolio, categories, and locations.

  • Building and maintaining a strong risk management set up.

  • Ongoing development and maintenance of supplier relationships – evolving strategic collaborations into partnerships.

  • Ensuring strong sourcing alternatives across indirect sourcing categories.

  • Employing appropriate procurement operating models coordinating multiple capabilities to enable, capture and sustain value.

  • Acting as a strategic partner for the business – building bridges to key internal stakeholders – while ensuring high professional standards.

  • Reporting and follow-up on results and performance.

Key success criteria:

  • Successful development and formalization of a supplier partner structure.

  • Developing and executing a strategy and structure for 2-3 key categories.

  • Ensuring strong collaboration with key stakeholders and key suppliers.

  • Contributing to a high performing culture in the corporate procurement department.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Educational background:

Relevant education.

Language:

English – fluent (verbally and written).

Ideal experience and competencies:

  • Preferably 4-5 years relevant work experience from a similar position.

  • Experience with managing, executing and successfully delivering on several projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with driving value focused category management and procurement processes.

  • Preferably experience from Medtech, Pharma or like.

  • Comprehensive experience with driving indirect procurement processes.

  • Excellent track record in leading and developing relations.

  • Strong project management and coordination capabilities, including sound followership flair and proficiency.

  • Evident stakeholder management and people skills.

  • Preferably track record with deploying CSR and environmental levers in procurement strategies.

  • Preferably experience with digital tools and processes – e.g. E-auctions, PO systems and like.
