BRIEF COMPANY PROFILE
The ability to impact the younger generation and students – already from primary school through to high school – is key to building a future pipeline of skilled STEM candidates (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) that will bridge the talent- and capability gaps threatening the Life Sciences industry. The “Inspire Them Young” initiative addresses this very issue by supporting initiatives that motivate and inspire younger generations to pursue academic tracks in line with the future capability needs within pharma, biotech, medtech and life sciences.
THE AMBITION OF THE "INSPIRE THEM YOUNG" INITIATIVE
The “Inspire them young” initiative includes the following three key activities:
1. Promoting investigation and inquiry-based science teaching in primary- and high schools
Inspired by the Nobel Prize winner Georges Charpak, the ”Inspire Them Young” initiative promotes investigation and inquiry-based science teaching in primary schools and in high schools. The approach will ensure improved student learning and motivation through increased student/teacher interaction and a unique combination of tactile and visualisation tools and processes.
2. Building a young female leadership program
With the ambition of contributing to the development of the next generation of outstanding female Life Science leaders, the "Inspire Them Young" Female Leadership Program was launched in 2017.
3. Building a bridge between academia and the Life Science industry
Supporting initiatives that create a bond between academia and the Life Science industry.
THE INSPIRE THEM YOUNG GRANT
Every year the “Inspire them young” initiative rewards with a grant of DKK 10.000:
1) A promising young female Life Science leadership talent, or
2) An institution promoting collaboration between academia and the Life Science industry, or
3) An institution excelling within the teachings of Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics (STEM)
The primary role of Chairwoman of the Board is to ensure that the board is effective in its task of setting and implementing the "Inspire Them Young" Initiative's direction and strategy.
The role is pro bono and is undertaken voluntarily and without payment.

Responsibilities & Tasks:
Duty of Care: Take care of the Inspire Them Young initiative and grant programme by ensuring prudent grant awarding processes and initiatives
Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission
Duty of Obedience: Ensure that the Inspire Them Young initiative and grant programme obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and that the Inspire Them Young initiative and grant programme adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission.
Key success criteria:
Ensuring that the purpose and mission of the Inspire Them Young initiative is adhered to
Ensuring successful grant processes
Ensuring the launch of relevant programme initiatives
Ensuring appropriate grant recipients
English – fluent (verbally and written)
Ideal experience and competencies:
Preferably prior board experience
Prior experience within or in relation to the Life Sciences industry
Nonprofit board experience is preferred
Takes control and sets clear direction
Makes sure employees/managers have a clear understanding of the direction of the tasks and acts accordingly. Organizes resources and directs others toward successful execution of the tasks.
Robust and decisive
Possesses high energy level and Is able to drive decisions and withstand or overcome adverse conditions. Encourages the achievement of set goals by promoting a sense of purpose, and by demonstrating strong drive, stamina, natural authority, and responsibility.
