DIRECTOR, PMO R&D

BRIEF COMPANY PROFILE

Our client is a Global MedTech company headquartered in Greater Copenhagen with a strong track record in developing state-of-the-art products addressing unmet needs in the market.

THE POSITION

With the objective and ambition to further strengthen the Project Management Office function and capabilities within Global R&D, the position will be responsible for ensuring superior project management processes and competences in support to the wider Global R&D area of our client – dedicated to innovation, product development and product change projects and activities.

 

Additionally, and with the direct leadership of 10+ FTE’s (Project Managers), the position will be overall responsible for exerting effective strategic leadership and management of the team.

 

Consequently, the position calls for a skilled project leader with vast experience in leading and driving teams and R&D projects – ideally including PMO management experience. Additionally, experience with Stage Gate model principles or similar is required and experience with software embedded products is preferred, while strong communication-, stakeholder management- and service skills are equally favored with the ideal candidate.

Traveling:

15-20 days per year

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Assuming full ownership and leadership of the global PMO function within Global R&D, including among others ensuring the establishment and continuous development of superior project management processes and competences contributing to effective and successful project management of development projects.

  • Ensuring effective governance across the entire project portfolio.

  • Ensuring effective project portfolio management alongside superior service and support to the Global R&D organization through the PMO Project Managers.

  • Ensuring continuous improvement and development of the function to ensure a high level of effectiveness and execution power.

  • Ensuring process and facilitation responsibility and oversight regarding project economics and financials.

  • Exerting effective change management leadership regarding project execution and overall governance in the PMO.

  • Ensuring process and facilitation responsibility and oversight regarding project budgets, economics and financials.

Key success criteria:

  • Exertion of successful leadership of the PMO function and team, resulting in highly satisfactory ratings from team members and key stakeholders.

  • Contribution to evident strengthening of the PMO platform, including the establishment and development of superior project management processes and competences.

  • Creation of a high-performing culture within the PMO team.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Educational background:

Relevant education – preferably at Master level.

Language:

English – fluent (verbally and written).

Ideal experience and competencies:

  • +5 years of experience from a similar role managing and leading projects – and preferably project organizations – in a PMO-like setting supporting R&D/development projects and activities.

  • Experience with direct people management and leadership.

  • Experience from comparable global R&D organizations – in- or outside the Medical Device industry requiring strong regulatory understanding (design control).

  • Experience with Stage Gate or like models/principles.

  • Preferably experience with software embedded products/technologies.

  • Track record of creating superior service delivery structures.
