LARS PETERSEN

BILLEDE AF LP.jpeg

Lars Petersen (LP) brings over 30 years of experience in operations and management within the life sciences and biopharmaceuticals sectors. LP has been instrumental in overseeing the FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies' global expansions totaling $6.2 billion in Hillerød and Holly Springs, North Carolina. He also played a pivotal role in successfully implementing the company's climate strategy in alignment with its sustainable value plan for 2030. Before joining FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, LP held leadership positions at Novo Nordisk and Genentech/Roche.

NOMINATION POINTS

  • LP is renowned for his visionary - almost philosophical - approach and his ability to rally support for the strategy. He is also known for prioritizing people over processes and bureaucracy.

  • LP isn't your typical engineer. He is highly strategic, creative, and idea-driven, with less inclination towards processes and systems. Moreover, LP's leadership style emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and shared commitment.

  • LP has played a pivotal role in successfully implementing FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies' climate strategy (including the establishment of a solar park in Vedde, Sorø Municipality).

  • Under LP's leadership, FUJIFILM's Danish pharmaceutical factory has achieved double-digit growth (12.5%) and more than doubled its bottom line compared to the previous year.

  • As the top executive for FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies in Denmark (and now Globally), LP has spearheaded a billion-dollar expansion in Hillerød, most recently in 2021 with an investment in a newly completed production expansion worth over 11 billion DKK. These investments are expected to bring numerous new jobs to North Zealand, Denmark.

  • LP has successfully garnered strong support from the local community for Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, demonstrated through collaboration and close interaction with various educational institutions, politicians, and other industry stakeholders (such as partnering with DTU and providing employees with opportunities to take biomanufacturing courses at the DTU campus).

  • LP has been instrumental in promoting greater diversity, currently embracing 48 different nationalities within the workforce at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies in Hillerød, Denmark.

  • LP has actively participated in the political debate, advocating for political action regarding the talent shortage in the Life Sciences industry in Denmark, including the need to attract talent from abroad. LP has taken the lead by initiating expanded collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark, DTU, to establish a steady influx of employees.
